process
every piece begins with a tree.
Although abundant in native tree species, 90% of the UK’s hardwood is imported from overseas. There are a small number of UK timberyards, however, that specialise in locally sourced trees and rescuing urban trees from development - trees that would have otherwise been destroyed, chipped or burned as fuel.
These repurposed trees are first rough sawn, then kiln-dried into furniture-grade timber. Once selected and delivered to our workshop, the timber is acclimated, processed and milled in-house. Converting the rough stock into square, flat components, the timber is ready to be crafted into sustainable furniture.
